Speaking of Epistemic Closure . . .

I am late to getting to this news, but apparently it’s not a good idea to send your child to Rutgers if you want your child to be open-minded and tolerant regarding those of a certain political persuasion.

To be sure, the administration at Rutgers behaved relatively honorably, stating that it stood by its decision to invite Condoleezza Rice in the first place. But shame on the faculty and students who decided that they just could not bear to hear from a public figure with political views that differed from their own.

  1. That’s a shame that they weren’t open to hearing from another side of the coin. I’m a firm believer in hearing from every side–that way you are available to learn more and heighten your own scope of knowledge.
