Good News for Bloggers

They are covered by First Amendment protections, which is, of course, an entirely sensible finding. Note the justifying language: “With the advent of the Internet and the decline of print and broadcast media … the line between the media and others who wish to comment on political and social issues becomes far more blurred.” That’s from the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United, which we are supposed to hate because of its realistic and cold-eyed finding that money is speech, but which has turned out to be one of the best things to have happened to the First Amendment in recent memory.
