I continue to believe that it does not matter one way or the other whether al Qaeda per se was involved in the terrorist attack in Benghazi, but to the extent that it does matter, let it be noted that whatever the denials of her staff, Senator Dianne Feinstein, the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee (and a Democrat, in the event that anyone needs reminding), takes issue with the New York Times claim that al Qaeda was not involved in the attack. Additionally, Senator Feinstein takes issue with the belief that the attack “evolved from a protest against the video, which was widely disseminated by Islamic clerics shortly before the attack.”
Obviously, port-side blogs and pundits will now claim that Senator Feinstein is a “wingnut” who has bought into goofy conspiracy theories regarding the Benghazi attack, and is doing the bidding of Republicans and the Tea Party, even though she is a Democrat and there is no evidence that she is doing anyone’s bidding. Additionally, I am sure that there will be claims that Senator Feinstein is working to undermine Hillary Clinton’s potential presidential candidacy because of her well-known fondness for a Ted Cruz administration. Or something.
